Crystallos Argentum Incantamen

Just finished creating the pendant for the chains I shared in my previous post. I am quite happy with how it turned out.

I bought a few quartz crystals in Italy and have been wanting to make a pendant like this for quite some time.

I have another pendant in the works. I really enjoy this design and because each crystal is different I have to come up with a slightly different design for each stone.

It is a nice challenge to come up with the appropriate design for each stone to properly show case each stone and I have some interesting ideas for some of the pieces to come.

I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do.
Until next time.

Hand Made Chains

I recently finished making a few curb chains and box clasps.

Hand Made Sterling Silver Curb Chain With Box Clasp
Making chains is a long, tedious process but it is always very rewarding in the end.

It has been quite a while since I make a chain, because it is such a labor intensive process. Especially when you´re fabricating your own materials.

I am thinking of making a few more chains and playing around with some different clasps.

I always enjoy the challenge of making a box clasp or any other mechanical aspect in jewelery.

It is always satisfying to finish a piece, but when it incorporates some sort of mechanical piece and I manage to make it work just the way it should, there is an extra sense of satisfaction. .

I also have some ideas for a few pendants I am planning to make for these chains.

I am currently in the process of making the pendants for these chains so I will be back soon to share those with you.

CREDIT?

The newest edition to the "Monetary Bondage" series is a piece that really excites me because I feel it truly captures the conceptual nature of value.

"VISA? (1)" (front) , Daniel Icaza, 2012
Silver, Brass, Nickel, Copper, Corundum, Fossil, Credit Card
We can usually identify the "value" of a coin or piece of paper money rather easily but what is a credit card worth?

This is the first "bonded" credit card in the series but it won't be the last. I already have a "MasterCard" in the works and I still have to finish the rest of the Costa Rican bills and coins.

I have the blessing and the curse of never running out of ideas. Always a bunch of projects in progress and even more waiting for their opportunity to come about.

I hope to be able to share more soon.

Until next time.

More New Rings!

It has been a busy few weeks and I have been doing all sorts of interesting things lately. Not to mention making as many new things as I can.

I apologize for my lack of recent posts but, I have to do some things in the real world before I can write about anything. . .

I have been speaking with many people about possible exhibitions and there are many up coming opportunities and a few definite events that I can talk about for now.

I have been selected to be part of the upcoming book "Contemporary Masters Volume VI". The curators of this excellent publication also organize an exhibition with the featured artists at the "Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Arts". The publication should be available by December 2012 and the Exhibition will take place in March 2013.

This is only one of several tentative exhibitions. I'll do my best to talk about up coming events as things happen.

As I mentioned I have been making many new things so I should hopefully be able to come up with some interesting posts soon, it will all depend on how much time I have.

For now I would like to share the new rings I have made, along with some you may have seen before.

Here is a small taste for now. . .

I have a few other things I am looking forward to sharing soon. Hopefully I find the time to get them written up and posted.

Until next time.
